Last Thursday I finished up my finals for the semester. I feel like I did well but the day did not start off very well. The night before finals I was so worried that my alarm clock would not go off that I barely slept. Eventually I did fall asleep but felt like I was woken up almost immediately by my alarm. I was relieved to see that I didn't sleep in but I closed my eyes just for a second (apparently it was longer than a second) and when I opened them again it was 1/2 hr later than when I originally woke up. I ran out of bed and hopped in the shower/got dressed/ ran out the door. I take trax to school from 90th south and when I pulled in to the parking lot the train I was hoping to catch was just arriving. I quickly parked, and began running to the train but it pulled away as I was getting on the platform. It takes 45 minutes to get from Sandy to the U and my first final was starting in an hour but I still had to wait for the next train to come. While waiting for the direct train to campus I overheard another student talking to someone about how he heard that the route schedule had changed. I had to make a decision. Either get on the next train that would take me downtown and then catch a connecting train to campus, or wait 7 more minutes for the train that I had overheard may not be coming but if it did then it would take me straight to school. I decided to get on the first train and I ended up making it to campus 8 minutes before my final, unfortunately my class is the farthest possible building from the station. I began running through the snow and made it to class a few minutes late but sat down and was able to take the test. I did not enjoy taking my test while panting and sweating.
Also, what's the best thing about Christmas time at temple square?
All the free snow you can eat.

A change.
I've decided where I want to go with my blog. From now on I plan on posting about the adventures of me and my little dude. I want my friends and family to know how much I love being a Daddy and hopefully share some fun stories along the way. I figured that right now is the best time to start because Ryan is still just a baby, I'm in the middle of school, and we are dirt poor. I want to show others that it is possible to make it work but most importantly I want Ryan to be able to look back on this when he's older and remember the good times he had with Dad.
This picture is how Ryan and I spent the evening. We learned all about the opposite things dogs can do and as you can tell it was pretty darn fun. This is some good old fashion fun.

I'm excited.
This week is air force week and on Saturday there is an airshow at Hill AFB. I'll be there, pictures to come. One more thing, a benefit of being sick is I get to watch a handful of shows that I usually wouldn't have time to watch. I borrowed season one of Heroes and Andrea and I have been hooked, I probably would have gotten better a little bit quicker had I gotten more sleep instead of watched more episodes but sometimes you just can't stop watching. Ya know?

PHSness
The one Provo High basketball game I watch all year just so happens to be the last one of the season and their only loss of the year. I swear that kind of stuff happens to me a lot. Anyway, as the final seconds fell from the game clock of the 4-A championship game between Provo and West the opposing fans from West began the most idiotic cheer of the year. "Over rated, clap clap, clap, clap, clap..." who's over rated? are you talking about Provo? I don't know if you fans from West High knew this or not but when you win 40 strait games and two consecutive championships you are not "over rated" you are actually rated exactly where you should be, numero uno. This isn't college football people! there is no exclusive group of sports writers and a supercomputer compiling stats, and strengths of schedules then spitting out rankings! We're talking 40 strait wins here! If the West High cheer was intended to tick me off, then good job guys, it worked. Provo will get ya next year.

U of U
So I found out the other day that I got accepted to the U. Not in a million years would I ever think that I would go to this school. I grew up hating the U, I despised them, I loved seeing BYU crush them in any sort of competition imagineable. I grew up attending BYU football and basketball games with my grandma, I had my bedroom painted "cougar blue"....... in high school. Andrea asked me a few weeks ago "if you get into the U would you become a Ute fan?" she was joking about it but I told her "you have no idea how much that has been weighing on my conscience, and I'm not even joking". I'll keep you posted on this interesting story as it unfolds next fall.

Larry H. Miller
Me, Andrea, Ryan and my dad all went to the Jazz game last night to pay tribute to Larry H. Miller. Before the game started there was a moment of silence, the lights in the arena were turned off except for a single beam that was shining on Larry's courtside seat. A video was then played where Larry talked about how when he dies that the thing he wants to be remembered the most for is a man who loved Utah. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house including the players on the bench. After the Jazz won, Deron Williams delivered the game ball to Larry's wife on the court along with a big long hug. It was a great night.
my turn to blog
My wife has two blogs so why can't I have one? I don't know how well I'm going to be able to manage this thing but Intend to fill it full of things that I like or find interesting.
